Grand Bois Stem

Made by Nitto exclusively for Grand Bois. The stems are fillet-brazed from steel tubing, polished and triple-plated (copper, nickel, chrome) for a brilliant and durable finish. The expander bolt is chrome-plated as well. The special clamp bolts are made from stainless steel. The stems have a threaded hole to attach a bell.

Note: The stems do not have a removable face plate, so some modern bars with very tight bends may be difficult or impossible to install.

Decaleur

The Grand Bois stem is available with an optional decaleur. The decaleur attaches the handlebar bag securely, so it does not move around as you ride. The decaleur keeps the bag clear of the handlebars, so you can use the "tops" hand position without having to wiggle your hands between bag and handlebars.

The decaleur consists of two parts: One attaches to the stem, the other to the bag. Pins on the bag attachment slide into the tubes on the stem attachment with a precise friction fit.

This means they don't rattle or jump out. To remove the bag, you simply pull it upward, and the bag comes off the bike.

Based on the decaleurs made by Alex Singer and René Herse, this system works very well.

Bell

The pleasant, but audible "Ping" of a bell is so much nicer than yelling "On Your Left." The brass bell has a fuller, lower ring and lovely color, but weighs more. The aluminum bell is superlight, with a brighter tone.

Both bells come with clamps to attach to a quill stem or handlebar.
